Selling and Buying Blood

In the case of blood, why we rely on blood donation?

          Blood is the important element in human body, to transport the oxygen to all the body part. There is no substitute for human blood, due to the diseases that occur around us, every day brings advance in life-saving techniques, mean that there is a large demand on blood or blood products. Besides, blood products cannot be store indefinitely, red blood cell concentrates can be kept for 42 days, and plasma can be stored for a year, whereas platelets can be kept for five days.

          The human now a day, is open to the variety of disease due to the transformation of technology, such as haemophilia, Leukaemia and much more. Other than that, the surgery such as orthopaedic, cardiovascular and plastic and transplant surgery, the accidents or trauma and shock. All these diseases and surgical procedures need several transfusions. Because of the issues just now, blood is needed any time, so it is more prefer to collected blood regularly. Without bloods, the surgical and diseases will be more critical, or may lead to death.

          The factor of the disease cannot be treats without transfusions, so every surgical and disease treatment will not to be done if there is not enough blood. Because blood is cannot be substitute, and donation of blood is the only way to get blood for transfusions, so that peoples are relying on the blood donation to have the surgical or to have the disease treatment, in order to get well from the sickness.

Why we can't buy or sell blood?

          Due to the issues of nothing can replace blood in human body, so that bloods become important and unique to everyone. However not every country make sell and buy blood in legally. Why we cannot buy or sell the blood?

          Firstly, through sell and buy bloods in the market, we cannot expect the poor people to be able to buy the blood and get the health treatment, means that the poor people will get the higher risk to face to death compare to the person who are rich enough to get the blood supply. If the blood is selling in the market, people need to buy it before enter the surgery house, it is same as the operation for cataract, the patient need to buy the lens before they get the operation. Same theory to the business of bloods, when there is the demand sure the supply will be there to fulfil the demand. Unfortunately when the demand is more than the supply, we will face the problem of shortage in blood supply, when shortage is happen for sure the price to buy the bloods will rise dramatically, so the poor people will not able to buy the bloods for their health treatment, this will lead to rising in death rate.

          Secondly, when there is the business about the selling and buying bloods, people will tend to sell their bloods to earn money. People will not take care to their health status instead to gain more money to make their life better. This may happen most in the poor country, it may happen as same as the illegal organ selling. Day to day, the one who donates the bloods very frequently, will face the health problem, such as the Mediterranean disease, which makes the patient to get the supply of the blood all the time.

Why there is not enough blood?

          The supply of the blood is already little, when the surgery is on, most probably four packet or above of blood is need to make the surgery go smooth. Because of the using of bloods is high, so that the supply is always not match the demand in reality. Plus the people who willing to donate they blood are very less, so the supply of bloods is always shortage. Furthermore the storage time for the donated bloods is limited time, which is 42 days, and plasma can be stored for a year, whereas platelets can be kept for only five days.  Based on the storage limit, the blood is not longer to keep, so that when the fresh date is end, the bloods is definitely cannot use. That is why the supply of the bloods is always not enough for the demand in now a day. The accident is happen much more compare to before, when the accident is happen and there is the victim involve in the accident, there will be the operation to be held in the hospital, when there is an operation to the victim, for sure a large amount of blood is needed in the operation. This entire factor will make the shortage of blood supply around us.

4) Why markets not allocate it?

          The reason why the market not allocated the selling buying of blood in market is because it is an illegal business transaction. When the people is selling their bloods in market, the other people will buy for it, there is not guaranty of the content of the blood is good or not, so the recipient may get the risk to get the disease such as HIV or Hepatitis B.

          Secondly, if the selling and buying of bloods is happen in the market, the government may lose some of the tax from the one who sell the bloods, because government have no ways to detect the person that sell or buy the bloods. So there is not good for the economic, due to the loss of income of government in terms of tax.

          Lastly, if the bloods is sell freely in the market, the health care system may be interrupt and disturb the ways of the health treatment in the hospital.
